A Platform for Living by General Design

Setsumasa and Mami Kobayashi’s weekend retreat, two and a half hours northwest of Tokyo, is “an arresting concept,” photographer Dean Kaufman says, who documented the singular refuge in the Chichibu mountain range. “It’s finely balanced between rustic camping and feeling like the Farnsworth House.”

A Sand Castle Suburb Consumed by the Ocean | Chad Wright

Masterplan is a installation by designer and artist Chad Wright inspired by his own experiences growing up in a sprawling suburb of Southern California. The piece is meant to juxtapose the playful childhood experience of building sand castles on the beach with his brother, versus the grim, modern-day reality of our current real estate collapse. Learn more over on his website. Photographed by Lynn Kloythanomsup of Architectural Black.

Give It To Get It: Jay Shaw’s Exclusive STARRY EYES Poster

Jay Shaw (aka Kingdom Of Nonsense) did a poster for a couple of guys who are making a horror movie. Those guys are long time buddies with the guy who wrote Fight Club. Read the article to find out how you can get the poster and/or your name in Chuck Palaniuk’s new book and/or a number of other cool things.

But if none of that blows your hair back, there’s even an opportunity to die (probably not for real) in the film’s climax. See? Something for everyone.
